If you havent been a member on a forum before here are some tips to setting up your profile.
When you click on Profile you will first see what everyone else can see about you. If your email address is hidden - you will be able to see it and so will the Admin but no one else can view it.
While in your profile - click on Modify Profile.
The following questions will be asked:
Gender: If you wish to display your gender, select it from the drop down menu or leave it as "Prefer not to disclose"
Location: Put your town, city or country (or both) here.
Web Site Name: Do you have a personal website you want people to see ? Put the name of the site here
Web Site URL: and put the URL here
Avatar: An avatar is the little picture that appears in your profile and under your name when you post. This forum offers a few standard avatars and also I will add a couple of Netherby related ones for you. You can also create your own - remember to resize them down to 100x100 pixels.
Personal Text: Your personal text will be displayed underneath your avatar in your profile - something short and interesting - or it can be left blank.
Signature: Your signature will be displayed beneath all of your posts. You may use a maximum of 400 characters. In my posts you will see I have a little motto at the very bottom - thats a signature.
Show Age: Selecting "Yes" will display your age and birthday to other users of this forum. Selecting "No" will leave your age a mystery to us !!
Hide Email: If you wish to hide your email address from members here, select "Yes." I recommend selecting YES. Your email address will only be visible to you and the Admin. Other members and outside people who are lurking will not be able to view it.
Stay Invisible: Choosing "Yes" will make it so that you are not listed as online except to staff members. See down the bottom of the index page - it says who is online etc - you can choose whether you want people to know you are current in this forum.
Show Signatures: Selecting "No" will make it so that no signatures are displayed to you at the bottom of posts. (This means your own and everyone elses signatures).
Show Avatars: If you do not wish to see the avatars of other users on this forum, select "No."
Show Images: If you wish to disable all images on the forum, select "No." All images will be replaced by a text equivalent, and you will be able to browse the forum faster. Selecting NO means you will be unable to see pictures in threads etc. If you have a very slow connection this can be a good idea.
When you are done - click on MODIFY PROFILE - and you are all done.
Any questions - feel free to ask. As the Admin I have the ability to go into your profile and fix things if you are having problems.
