Karina Saturday, 4/8/06, 12:16 AM Just wanted to say Hi to everyone who has encountered my little website so far. Fabulous to see there are still so many decendents of the Netherby passengers around. I am in the middle of rebuilding the site to make it more readable on all browsers. On the page where I have the passengers names listed - I would love to add links to more info about each of those families. So if you are a relative and you have something you want added against thier name (even a link to your own site etc) please feel free to let me know here. regards Karina

Lawrence Lingard-Davis Friday, 4/14/06, 4:52 PM Hi Karina... I found your website by accident. My Great Grandparents William & Emma Lingard were two of the passengers on the Netherby. I have made a pilgrimage to the wreck site and have also met with Chris Conn. I am going back again to King Island for the Anniversary which is on July 14th 2006. I have a copy of the Netherby Gazette which is brilliant. If you would like a photo of the wreck site then let me know and I will forward them on to you. You have a great website. Some wonderful reading. All the best for the future. From: Riddells Creek Victoria Australia Web Site: Larry & Dawns Travels Email: cullodenmist@hotmail.com What can you share about The Netherby? Karina Saturday, 4/15/06, 5:48 AM Hi Laurence. Thanks for sharing the photos from your trip to King Is. Stunning - loved the panorama's. To see how rocky the shoreline is today makes me realise how treacherous it would have been in 1866. To be clambering ashore soaking wet - what an effort those passengers made. Regards Karina.

Rod Lingard Monday, 4/17/06, 5:31 AM Hi Karina, I am a friend of Larry D. and also a G.Grandson of Wm.& Emma Lingard. I have a photo of the building where most of the Netherby survivors were temporarily housed when they reached Melbourne. The material you have refers to the "Exhibition Building". It was not the currently standing building of that name (which was only built in the 1890's). It stood on the cnr. of William and Latrobe Streets in the 1860's. It was later replaced with the first Royal Mint building - which is now used as govt. offices and for civil marriage ceremonies. I will e-mail the photo to you if you send your E.address to me. George's letter is a treasure ! Best wishes, Rod Lingard From: Torquay, Victoria Email: rodlingard@optusnet.com.au What can you share about The Netherby? A note re lodging in Melbourne

colin williams Thursday, 6/1/06, 5:38 AM I am researching my family history and by accident came accross the report of the Netherby's demise some 2 weeks ago.We were gobsmacked to find that our ancestors did not think this shipwreck significant enough to pass this information on!!. My great, great grandparents were on the Netherby and my great grandfather Charles Williams was born on the Netherby we believe 2 months into the journey as he is listed as 1 month old on the arrivals list. They were Charles Williams 30, Julia Williams 31, John Williams 6, Ellen (Helen)8,and Hanna (Johanna)10. There were 2 other Williams on the list John 24, and Michael 20. We suspect that they may be Charles brothers as the family had a habit of naming children after other family members.I would be very interested in The Captains report and The Netherby Gazette.I am trying to find plans of the Netherby to make a scale model. It would be great if I could locate a piece of the ships timber to incorporate into the model. Your website has been a great help and when we manage to get our history typed up I'll pass it on. Karina Saturday, 6/3/06, 2:05 AM WOW Col - thats amazing that your ancestors neglected to pass the story down. The impression I get from so many decendants is that it was the biggest event in the family history so the story was well discussed. Good luck with the efforts in making a model. Would love to see a photo of the finished result. Will definately love to add anything regarding your family history to this site. Regards Karina
