Sandra A. Millwood Tuesday, 1/13/09, 1:54 AM Karina, I read with interest the letter of your ancestor to his mother. What an ordeal and what hardships our forebears suffered in migrating to Australia. My paternal great, great grandfather, one Jack Riley was transported as a convict from England during the mid 19th century - I don't know what crime he had committed and details of his life after he was finally released from Port Arthur are obscure. As one of our former prime ministers once said, "Life wasn't meant to be easy." Regards, Sandra From: Tasmania Email: sandrantarctica@yahoo.com.au

Whilst doing some research around this I found out they had been shipwrecked and found this site!! My relations were James and Mary Aplin, who travelled with their two daughters. Geoff Drew Friday, 12/18/09, 1:33 PM The Townsend T.R. on the list of signatories to the letter of thanks really should be Townsend I.R. (Isabella Rachel Townsend). There was another, younger, member of the Townsend group named Victor Louis Townsend but, at 10 years old, might have been considered to young to be signing letters. Cheers, and congratulations on a great collection of information. Geoff From: Brisbane Web Site: Captain William Townsend Email: geoffrey.drew@bigpond.com What can you share about The Netherby? Information on the Townsend family
