Rob Swain Friday, 3/18/11, 5:52 PM I am the great grandson of Rose Groom, survivor of the Netherby wreck. Rose was a babe on the ship and later married Cr Harry Swain around 1888, He later became mayor of Preston for a short time. My father (grandson of Rose) is 79 and recalls family stories stating that Rose was born on the boat. I am piecing together facts to determine truth or not of this. I'm definitely interested in any reunions of Netherby descendants. Congrats on a great site brimming with info! From: Geelong, Victoria, Australia Email: rswain@gordontafe.edu.au

Karina Saturday, 4/16/11, 7:09 AM Hi Ann and Rob - thanks for finding the site. Rob - if you have a read of the doctors report he does mention the birth of a girl on board during the trip - so you never know !! Ann - thanks for the additional names - I am doing some updates on the site and will ensure they are added to the list. Hope you can both join us over on the discussion forum and consider coming to King Island for the 2016 reunion.

kerrie Harrison Monday, 4/18/11, 8:14 PM As per Cass Turner: Robert Nally, (my great, greatgrandfather), and his first wife Mary (nee Kelly), both Irish, were aboard the Netherby. Mary gave birth to their first child, Michael, in the May during the voyage. They remained in Victoria in the Nathalia area, as farmers. Mary died in 1873 after having another 4 children. Robert remarried, my 2x greatgrandmother, another Irish woman, Mary Raftery and they had two more children including my greatgrandmother Margaret Ellen. Robert is buried at the Nathalia cemetery, but I am not certain of where his first wife is buried. From: Robert Nally Email: k9.1963@live.com.au What can you share about The Netherby? I'm Great Granddaughter to Margaret Ellen Nally. My Great Grandmother died 26th April 1956 as a result of accidental burns she received when her clothing caught alight. She is buried in the Roman Catholic Cemetry in Griffith.

Lee Beckton Friday, 10/14/11, 1:56 PM My 87 year old grandmother recently gave me a photocopy of the Netherby Shipwreck. Stating that my G.G.G.Grandmother was merely a child who survived the Shipwreck. Her name was Annie NEWBROOK (maiden name). I was wondering if you may have a copy of the ships passenger registrar, or records of this person being a passenger on this ship. Thankyou very much, Lee Beckton From: Central Coast NSW Email: surfing_2rip@hotmail.com
