Changing the privacy of the forum - your feedback wanted

Hi folks.

I am considering the benefits of opening up the forums privacy to make it searchable on Google to ensure people are able to find it - especially if they are searching for ancestors surnames etc.

I can set it so that anyone can read all the boards, or just some and others would still only be visible to members.

I can also set it so that on certain boards people dont need to register an account - but to access the private boards - they would have to sign up.

On one public board I would post all the known passengers names and lock that post so no one can add to it. This would ensure all those names would be searchable in google and direct people towards the forum.

Anyway - please let me know what your opinions are regarding the privacy controls.
